Love Hurts

How can just a feeling,

so naturally intangible,

be constantly expanding,

but still not understandable?

How can simple emotion,

no physical characteristics,

Cause so much pain?

It’s driven us all ballistic.

Twisted sensations

of anguish, loss and despair,

Loved ones move on-

how can we not be prepared?

Love doesn’t last forever;

like life, it’s only fleeting.

Seems so sweet, but it’s two-faced,

effects are so misleading.

So enjoy it while it lasts,

try to savor the memories,

It’s Time, not Love,

that plays our emotional enemy.

Hidden behind the rhythm of life,

Love is what keeps us going.

It isn’t forbidden, forgivin’ the finish.

Insight is the key to knowing.

The loss of love is a heavy burden,

A weight that we all are towing

But, ironically, given the Time,

We progress and keep on growing.
